2009 Stimulus Bill Energy Efficiency Tax Credits
On February 17, 2009 President Obama signed a stimulus bill that made significant changes to energy efficiency tax credits.
The tax credits that were previously effective for 2009, have been extended to 2010 as well.
The tax credit has been raised from 10% to 30%.
Specific products that qualify include air conditioning systems 16 SEER and higher, air conditioning package units 14 SEER and higher, and natural gas furnaces 95 AFUE and higher. For these systems they can earn a tax credit of up to 30% of the system cost or up to $1500.
